Cheers to P-Card Program Managers

With all the gloom and doom we have endured the past 12 months or so, I want to take a moment to recognize card program managers and administrators (PMs/PAs). As organizations have had to continuously shift and modify their procure-to-pay processes to accommodate new working situations and purchasing needs, these professionals have been critical keys to success. Following is a tribute to them. I find that a good remedy for pandemic fatigue is gratitude, so I encourage you to take a moment to thank someone you work with, acknowledging all their hard work recently.

Ode to P-Card Program Managers

The role of a card program manager is indeed vast.
Employers should hire thoughtfully, not too fast.
Communications and training are at the job’s core.
And dealing with people all of kinds—no need to say more.
Taking calls at all hours is nothing new.
They are capable problem-solvers, ready to help you.
Adjusting spend limits when needed and requesting new cards,
they make tasks look easy that others would find hard.
Just about everything comes a PM’s way.
There’s no telling what can happen on any given day.
Strange purchases to research, reports to run—
some things are a pain, but the job can be fun.
Tracking program progress and finding opportunities galore,
a good PM knows how to make the program soar.
Treat them with respect and give them moments to shine.
Recognize their hard work that boosts the bottom line.
Never take for granted all that they do.
Program managers, you are valuable; cheers to you!
